This stunning wooden speed boat (named “Smokey Jo”) was originally built in 1964 as a Tremlett Sportsman 21. In the early 2000’s she was fully restored by a well known off-shore powerboat racer who competed against a number of Tremlett’s throughout his career. Two years of work went into creating this high-performance craft – The end result, a 7.4l Chevy V8-powered Mahogany speed boat capable of reaching 75mph.

She really is a masterpiece of engineering!

Smokey Jo was stripped completely bare, fitting new engine bearers, strengthening the transom, fitting twin fuel tanks, a new bulkhead and a new deck. Hours was spent on stability graphs and load placement to ensure that handling would remain faithful to the original. The big-block Chevy engine was fitted with a lightened and balanced crank, forged pistons, roller lifters and Crane race cams. Mastertrim were commissioned to design and fit the navy blue and white upholstery that you see in her today.

She is unlike any other boat you will see on the water!

This boat sits on a twin-axle road trailer and she is fitted with a number of options, including a compass and chart plotter. An out of water survey was recently conducted and really speaks to the build quality of this one of a kind classic speed boat. A copy of this survey can be provided upon request.

Dimensions: 6.5m long / 1.8m wide / 0.7m draft.

A four page magazine article was written on Smokey Jo – A copy of which can be found in the image gallery below. Please note – The engine is 7.4l and not 5.7l as shown in the article. This is a misprint.
